Our Projects and Initiatives

The Transition Center is located in Norman Hall at the University of Florida. Our goal is to be a resource for all those working in the area of transition across the state of Florida. We strive toward achieving this goal through workshops, research, dissemination of products, involvement in the state's Transition Task Force, and Project CONNECT.

The Transition Center is supported by the Career Development and Transition Project (CDT), which is one of the Department of Education's, Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services (BEESS) discretionary projects. This project focuses on transition by providing training, products, and technical assistance for education professionals, agency personnel, family members, and students. The Florida Department of Education, BEESS, also supports many other Discretionary Projects throughout the state.

The Florida Transition Task Force consists of family members, students, teachers, administrators, Department of Education personnel, and agency representatives. The task force serves to link practice and need with research and education. Quarterly meetings provide an opportunity for Transition Task Force members to identify transition issues and barriers and work together to find solutions.
